Kharkov Dentist

There’s a dentist I’ve been going to a lot here in Kharkov; ever since I went to Chicago and discovered Dunkin’ Donuts I’ve been going to dentists a lot. They’re cunningly called ‘German Dentistry’ (all german equipment) and I just discovered have a website at Немецкая Стоматологи

So far I’ve had a root canal re-root-canal-ed and fitted with an ‘onlay’ and today an implant. Like all eastern european dentists they put english dentists to shame. I’ve never seen a dentist in the UK with a digital x-ray. It’s a nice feeling half way through a root canal for the dentist to have a quick check on the digital x-ray to ensure all the root has been cleared out ok. Contrast that to my english dentist who says come back if there are any problems. Like the abscess a few days later. And a bargain in the Uk at about $800. It wasn’t cheap here; $200-300 I think in the end but it took ages and the dentist was not only very good (though a bit obsessed about not causing me pain (which of course I’d pay more for anyway )) but also a bit of a cutie.

The dentist provides translators if required; with a good dose of missionary zeal thrown in. A lot of missionaries here who make good translators.

So the implant was relatively painless apart from the feelings of the scalpel grating on the bone and a scene from Driller Killer. But I survived, feel Ok and look forward to a perfect smile one day.

One thing I learned. You don’t need a prescription to get cool drugs in the pharmacy. That saves a lot of hassle. Have to explore where the limits are …
